Anthony Edwards delivered a dominant 45-point performance to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to an emphatic 131-106 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night. The season opener ruined Giannis Antetokounmpo's Miami debut, despite the former Bucks star scoring 35 points in his first game for the franchise.
Edwards hit nine three-pointers and secured 10 rebounds, joining Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history with multiple 40-point season openers. LaMelo Ball added 21 points in his Minnesota debut as the Timberwolves converted 21 three-pointers compared to Miami's eight.
