The Detroit Pistons defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-106 in Minnesota's sole home preseason matchup at Target Center. Despite a strong opening quarter from the Timberwolves led by Jaden McDaniels and Jonathan Kuminga that yielded a nine-point advantage, Detroit rallied with defensive disruption. Outscoring Minnesota 36-20 in the second quarter, the Pistons took control behind inside scoring from Jalen Duren and maintained command through the second half.
Kuminga recorded 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists in what Benny Hughes described as his best preseason performance so far. However, Hughes noted that Minnesota struggled significantly against Detroit's physical perimeter defense and ball pressure. The Timberwolves now head on the road to conclude their preseason schedule against the Chicago Bulls on Friday.
