Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee and is expected to miss approximately two months. Edwards reinjured the knee during the season opener against the Miami Heat, and imaging following his 47-point performance in a 127-125 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers revealed increased issues that prompted surgery.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Edwards and the Timberwolves chose immediate treatment to avoid lingering problems later in the season. Although the two-month absence will likely render Edwards ineligible for major regular-season awards, his manager Justin Holland stated that his primary focus remains on winning an NBA championship.
