The Timberwolves thought they had landed a double-double machine, but an unexpected change of heart left Minnesota scrambling.

Forward Norchad Omier reversed his decision to sign a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, opting instead to join the Cleveland Cavaliers. The sudden change of heart left Minnesota with an open two-way roster spot after the team had already waived forward Enrique Freeman to clear space for Omier, according to reporting by Michael Scotto.
To facilitate the incoming two-way signing, the Cavaliers plan to waive forward Riley Minix. Omier previously played for Cleveland's G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, and averaged 18.3 points and 11.4 rebounds in the G League last season alongside appearing in six games for the Los Angeles Clippers.
