The Minnesota Timberwolves had a contract decision to make on two young players this week, and they did not wait for the deadline.

The Minnesota Timberwolves exercised their rookie-scale contract options on guard Terrence Shannon Jr. and center Joan Beringer on Friday. The decisions keep both players under team control through at least the 2027-28 NBA season, ahead of the league's November 2 deadline.
Shannon had his fourth-year option picked up for $5,054,159, while Beringer had his third-year option picked up for $4,621,200. Both players are seeing expanded rotational roles under head coach Chris Finch with Anthony Edwards sidelined until January following knee surgery.
