The Story in 60 Seconds

The Minnesota Timberwolves missed out on signing Dalton Knecht after the former Los Angeles Lakers first-round pick agreed to a two-way contract with the New York Knicks. Knecht's agents confirmed the deal following his release by Los Angeles earlier in the week. Minnesota, Cleveland, and Sacramento had also expressed interest in the 25-year-old wing.

Minnesota created an open two-way slot by waiving Enrique Freeman on October 17, but New York cleared roster space by waiving Kevin McCullar Jr. to secure Knecht. Selected 17th overall in 2024, Knecht struggled last season with the Lakers after a collapsed trade to Charlotte disrupted his early momentum.
