NBA to hold talks with European soccer giants over new league

The NBA is scheduled to hold talks on Tuesday with executives from major European soccer clubs regarding plans for a proposed European basketball league. Officials from AC Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are expected to meet with the league either in person or remotely while in London for the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

The discussions focus on the NBA's plan to launch a league targeted for late 2027 featuring 12 permanent franchises and four qualification-based teams. Potential franchise prices could reach hundreds of millions of dollars, with a London team potentially valued at up to $1 billion following the rejection of the NBA's acquisition offer by EuroLeague shareholder clubs.
