EuroLeague shareholders are expected to submit a counter-offer to the NBA following their rejection of an initial merger proposal, according to BasketNews.com's Donatas Urbonas. ESPN's Brian Windhorst reports that the NBA proposed a framework where European teams participate in domestic leagues on weekends and compete in NBA Europe midweek, alongside expanded rosters and European player development initiatives.
Significant financial differences remain, as EuroLeague owners are reportedly hesitant about granting the NBA control over the proposed league. Consequently, NBA Europe's potential launch may be postponed from the fall of 2027 to the fall of 2028 if an agreement cannot be finalized.
