Today, Jalen Brunson and the defending-champion New York Knicks lost 100-106 to the Philadelphia 76ers on the opening night of the 2026-27 regular season.
Jalen Brunson reflected on a humbling 106-100 opening-night defeat for the New York Knicks against the Philadelphia 76ers, stating the team needed the loss to keep their egos in check. Following the Knicks' championship banner ceremony, Brunson noted that being knocked off the mountain helps the roster refocus instead of being distracted by past success.
Brunson posted 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists while shooting 6-for-19 from the field in the defeat. He credited the revamped 76ers squad for playing well and making things difficult, adding that New York can make adjustments before their next meeting on October 30.
