Karl-Anthony Towns didn’t exactly shrug off the Knicks’ decision to table extension talks. “It was news to me,” Towns said Sunday, via James L. Edwards III of The Athletic.
Karl-Anthony Towns expressed significant frustration after the New York Knicks decided to pause contract extension discussions until later in the season. Towns stated that the move was unexpected and that he felt very disappointed by the team's choice to halt talks. The Knicks announced the pause regarding their extension-eligible players, an initiative that also impacts teammates Josh Hart and Miles McBride.
Reports indicate the Knicks offered Towns a contract around four years and $200 million, while he is eligible for up to $276 million. Although Towns is reportedly willing to accept less than the maximum amount, both sides have not bridged the gap. Despite the contract impasse, Towns noted that his primary focus remains on performing on the court.
