Knicks ‘Not Close’ on Karl-Anthony Towns Contract

Contract extension discussions between the New York Knicks and star center Karl-Anthony Towns have stagnated, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst. Towns is eligible for a four-year, $276 million contract extension, but the two sides reportedly remain tens of millions of dollars apart as training camp approaches.

Towns remains under contract for the upcoming season and holds a $61 million player option for the following year. Despite the current impasse, the Knicks are not panicking, remain confident a deal can eventually be reached, and have no immediate plans to trade the center or let him leave in free agency.
