Mohamed Diawara averaged 9.2 minutes as a Knicks rookie. The preseason opener is a chance to test a bigger role for him.

Alexander Wilson of Empire Sports Media argues that the New York Knicks should provide sophomore forward Mohamed Diawara significant preseason minutes alongside core rotation players. With the Knicks set to open their preseason against Philadelphia on Monday, Wilson contends that testing Diawara in meaningful situations will reveal whether he can contribute effectively during the regular season.
Diawara averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds across 69 appearances and seven starts during his rookie campaign. Wilson emphasizes that testing Diawara's defensive versatility and decision-making during the preseason could offer head coach Mike Brown valuable rotation depth without requiring an external roster addition.
