Knicks guard Jose Alvarado is dealing with an ankle sprain, which opens up a path for Tyler Kolek to make a case to stay in Mike Brown's rotation.

Kris Pursiainen of Daily Knicks argues that guard Tyler Kolek has an opportunity to secure a regular rotation spot under head coach Mike Brown. After Brown warned that no bench player's job was safe, backup guard Jose Alvarado suffered a sprained left ankle against the Orlando Magic. This injury opened up 15 minutes of action for Kolek.
Despite missing all four of his shot attempts against Orlando, Kolek contributed nine assists without a turnover, along with three rebounds and a steal. Pursiainen notes that while Brown prioritizes defensive performance for playing time, strong performances during Alvarado's absence could establish the 25-year-old Kolek as a lasting solution in New York's rotation.
