The former OKC Thunder center is already turning heads at Blazers camp, and it's only the start of a disheartening trend.

Zane Gelphman of Thunderous Intentions argues that former Oklahoma City Thunder center Branden Carlson's strong start in training camp with the Portland Trail Blazers highlights OKC's looming roster and financial difficulties. Carlson signed with Portland in July after spending his first two seasons in Oklahoma City, where deep rotation depth and financial constraints prompted the Thunder to let him depart.
The writer notes that Carlson's exit followed the offseason departures of Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, and Lu Dort due to financial pressures. Gelphman suggests that with upcoming contract obligations, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's supermax deal and a potential Cason Wallace extension, the Thunder will likely continue losing developed talent to other teams.
