Reigning MVP's incredible streak ends after classy decision.

Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander saw his historic 141-game streak of scoring at least 20 regular-season points come to an end on Thursday. Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 17 points on 6-of-19 shooting during Oklahoma City's 96-84 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Rather than chase the milestone late in the game, he chose to check out with 1:43 remaining once Denver substituted their starters.
His decision drew praise from Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault and commentator Skip Bayless for his sportsmanship. The streak, which began after an October 2024 contest against the San Antonio Spurs, had previously broken Wilt Chamberlain's record of 126 consecutive 20-point games. With the win, the Thunder improved to 2-0 on the 2026-27 season ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
