The Oklahoma City Thunder are widely viewed as the team to beat in the Western Conference this season, and Shaquille O’Neal is one of many who are backing them.
Shaquille O'Neal has picked the Oklahoma City Thunder to win both the Western Conference and the NBA Finals, pointing to rookie Aday Mara as the team's key weapon. Speaking on the NBA's Tip-Off show, O'Neal cited the 7-foot-3 center's potential impact off the bench as a major factor for Oklahoma City this season.
Mara made his NBA debut in a victory against the San Antonio Spurs, where he played off the bench and blocked a shot by Victor Wembanyama. O'Neal highlighted Mara as valuable frontcourt depth behind Isaiah Hartenstein, particularly in matchups against elite big men.
