Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 116-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in their season opener on Tuesday. Despite the win against the team that knocked Oklahoma City out of last season's Western Conference finals, Gilgeous-Alexander admitted that the long, disappointing summer of falling short of a championship lingered, noting that the opening win was merely one step in an 82-game journey.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished the game with 32 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. Speaking with NBC's Ashley ShahAhmadi, he credited his offseason hard work for his confidence while emphasizing that the opening victory does not guarantee future postseason success.
