The Orlando Magic are still trying to figure out how to improve their 3-point shooting. They are tackling it head-on to open the season, increasing their attempts.

The Orlando Magic are actively altering their offensive philosophy under Sean Sweeney by embracing increased 3-point volume, reports Philip Rossman-Reich. Through three games, Orlando ranks eighth in the NBA with 40.3 perimeter attempts per game, up from 34.1 last season. While conversion rates remain low at 32.2 percent, players such as Desmond Bane and Tristan da Silva have emerged as high-volume threats, averaging 9.3 and 8.7 attempts per contest, respectively.
Rossman-Reich highlights that the Magic are prioritizing shot quality alongside volume, ranking seventh with 20.3 wide-open 3-point attempts per game. After struggling in losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando converted 18 of 42 attempts from deep in a victory over the New York Knicks. Sweeney and guard Jalen Suggs emphasized that the team must continue creating open looks and shooting with confidence.
