The longtime radio host's shot looked to be on target before clanking off the rim.

Longtime Arizona Sports radio host John Gambadoro took the court on Thursday night to attempt a ceremonial free throw before the Phoenix Suns tipped off against the Orlando Magic. The shot appeared to be on target initially before bouncing off the rim, resulting in a narrow miss for the host.
Gambadoro's attempt was part of the Gila River Resorts and Casinos First Shot promotion, which donates $10,000 to the Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation upon the attempt. Prior to the game, Gambadoro practiced at Mortgage Matchup Center, stating his main goal was simply to avoid an airball.
