The Story in 60 Seconds

Devin Booker failed to attempt a single three-point shot as the Phoenix Suns suffered a 124-83 blowout loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener. Debuting in his new No. 15 jersey, Booker played 29 minutes in a game where Phoenix trailed by as many as 52 points. The defeat marked the 17th time in Booker's 738 career games that he did not record a three-point attempt.

Writer John Voita of Bright Side Of The Sun argues that Booker's reluctance to shoot from deep remains a troubling limitation for the Suns' offense. The Trail Blazers were fueled by the return of Damian Lillard, who scored 25 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc alongside Portland debutant Ja Morant. Booker acknowledged afterward that the team needs to find its flow and has significant work to do.
