Game Preview: Suns begin their preseason tonight!

The Phoenix Suns begin their 2026–27 preseason on October 5, 2026, facing the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena. This game marks the first of five preseason matchups for Phoenix before opening the regular season against the Portland Trail Blazers on October 23. Head coach Jordan Ott will use the contest to evaluate young players and test various rotation combinations.

A key focus for Phoenix is the starting center battle between Oso Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach, following Mark Williams' multi-month shoulder injury. The Suns also aim to integrate new additions Miles Bridges, Luke Kennard, Pat Spencer, and Koa Peat against a Detroit team led by Cade Cunningham.
