The Suns need a starting center while Mark Williams is sidelined. Jordan Ott isn’t particularly interested in picking one yet. Instead, Phoenix’s coach intends to let Khaman Maluach and Oso Ighodaro settle the matter on the floor.
The Phoenix Suns are allowing Khaman Maluach and Oso Ighodaro to compete for the starting center role while Mark Williams remains sidelined. Coach Jordan Ott stated he will let the preseason play out before making a final decision, likely choosing the starter a couple of days prior to the team's season opener on October 21.
In preparation for the upcoming campaign, Maluach worked out with franchise star Devin Booker during the offseason to better understand on-court spacing and requirements. While Ighodaro brings prior NBA experience to the frontcourt battle, Maluach presents notable upside, giving both players significant preseason opportunities.
