Blazers Find a Play-by-Play Broadcaster

The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly chosen veteran radio broadcaster Travis Demers to handle play-by-play duties for the 2026-27 NBA season. According to a report by Joe Freeman of The Oregonian, Demers' appointment is on a trial or game-by-game basis. While he will have an opportunity to retain the role for the full season, the franchise plans to keep its options open and may test other announcers for select games throughout the year.

The decision follows an extended offseason search after the Blazers parted ways with longtime broadcaster Kevin Calabro. The team previously hired Phoenix broadcaster Braiden Bell, only to fire him the same day over past controversial social media posts. With the regular season starting in a week, the team is expected to initially simulcast television and radio coverage.
