The NBA's target date for potential expansion teams in Las Vegas and Seattle could be pushed back from the 2028/29 season to 2029/30, according to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. While the league has discussed delaying a new Las Vegas franchise's debut, no final decisions have been made. The NBA is currently holding talks with three finalist ownership groups vying for the Las Vegas expansion team.
An unofficial agreement with a winning bidder could reportedly be reached before late November. However, arena issues may complicate the timeline. T-Mobile Arena would require roughly $400 million in renovations to host an NBA team, while constructing a preferred new arena would take several years to complete.
