Ben Simmons made his return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 10, starting for the Sacramento Kings in a preseason matchup against the Golden State Warriors. Filling in for the sidelined Domantas Sabonis, Simmons played nine restricted minutes in the first quarter, tallying seven points and one assist. Following the contest, Simmons expressed strong confidence, stating he is now healthy and believes he is about the same caliber of player he was a few years ago.
Simmons sat out the previous season while recovering from a chronic back injury before signing a one-year, veteran minimum contract worth up to $3.52 million with Sacramento. Emphasizing a patient approach, Simmons explained that the game has slowed down for him and that he plans to be smart during his reintegration into NBA basketball as he works to rebuild his on-court value.
