Damian Lillard said he had heard all the chatter about how he wouldn't be the same ol' Dame after the serious Achilles injury and turning 36 years old.
The Portland Trail Blazers travel to face the Sacramento Kings on Friday night after a dominant season-opening victory. Portland defeated the Phoenix Suns 124-83 in its debut, led by Damian Lillard's 25 points in his first game back after recovering from an Achilles injury. The contest also marked a successful start for new head coach Micah Nori and point guard Ja Morant, who contributed 14 points and eight assists in the blowout win.
In contrast, the Sacramento Kings opened their campaign with a 121-96 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. While Zach LaVine scored 28 points and Domantas Sabonis recorded 14 points and 18 rebounds, rookie Darius Acuff Jr. struggled by shooting 5-for-24. Kings head coach Doug Christie emphasized patience with the rookie as Sacramento seeks its first victory against a Portland squad that swept the four-game season series last year.
