As bad as some of the projections for the Sacramento Kings' 2026-2027 season are, the situation could get much worse.

Writer Ian Goodwillie argues that the Sacramento Kings could experience an even worse 2026-2027 season than current media projections suggest. While multiple outlets project the team to finish last with between 18 and 22 wins, Goodwillie notes that Sacramento remains in the early stages of an extended rebuild led by general manager Scott Perry, making further struggles likely before the franchise improves.
Goodwillie points out that financial constraints from the large contracts of Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis hinder roster improvements. Additionally, the writer highlights the challenge of developing recent draft picks and lingering skepticism regarding head coach Doug Christie's performance following his first season at the helm.
