Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine criticized both the Los Angeles Lakers and his own team's defensive liabilities following a 116-103 loss on November 5. LaVine remarked that both teams have bad defenders and noted that the Lakers successfully exploited Sacramento's weaknesses. The defeat dropped the struggling Kings to a 1-7 start in the 2026-2027 NBA regular season.
Despite scoring 21 points, LaVine took accountability for six turnovers during the defeat. Luka Doncic led the Lakers with a 40-point performance, earning high praise from LaVine, who called him one of the best scorers of all time. Meanwhile, Kings rookie Darius Acuff Jr. continued his strong early-season form.
