The Spurs have handled Cooper Flagg so far, but the 19-year-old is a Southwest Division problem San Antonio will be solving for the next ten years.

Writer Jahlil Williams argues that the San Antonio Spurs face a serious in-state rival in Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks. The 19-year-old star has led Dallas to a 4-2 start following a win against the Houston Rockets, averaging 25.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.
Williams highlights that Flagg scored 33 points against San Antonio late in the 2025-26 season. While noting that the Spurs reached the NBA Finals after defeating Oklahoma City, Williams contends that the Mavericks' rapid emergence around Flagg poses a direct challenge to Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio's championship aspirations.
