Backup center Ariel Hukporti went down with a season-ending Achilles tear just moments into the Sixers’ preseason debut against the Knicks. Philadelphia was already facing uncertainty regarding their big man depth prior to the injury, but the loss of Hukporti…

The Philadelphia 76ers are unlikely to sign a replacement big man on a standard contract before early December despite losing backup center Ariel Hukporti to a season-ending Achilles tear, according to Marc Stein. Hukporti suffered the injury during Philadelphia's preseason opener against the New York Knicks, leaving Adem Bona, Dominick Barlow, and Jabari Walker behind Joel Embiid.
Due to the team's position against the first-apron hard cap, Philadelphia would need to shed approximately $600,000 in salary via trade to make an addition sooner. Alternatively, waiving Walker's partially guaranteed contract could create flexibility, though the front office reportedly is not considering that option.
