Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Otega Oweh will miss the entire 2026-27 NBA season after rupturing his right Achilles tendon on October 13 during a preseason game against the Indiana Pacers. The team announced on October 14 that Oweh had undergone a successful surgical procedure performed by Dr. Martin O'Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
Oweh was acquired by the Thunder via a draft-night trade with the Miami Heat as the 41st overall pick and signed to a two-way contract. The Kentucky product, who averaged 18.6 points during his final collegiate season, was expected to provide depth for Oklahoma City after the team traded away several key players during offseason salary-cap moves.
