RJ Barrett is still playing an on-ball role with the Raptors because Kawhi Leonard has yet to play, and it's only going to make the adjustment harder.

Raptors Rapture writer Chris Lambert argues that Kawhi Leonard's ongoing absence is hindering RJ Barrett's transition into his expected long-term role. With Leonard missing the Toronto Raptors' first two preseason games, Barrett has continued operating as a primary on-ball option alongside Scottie Barnes, which Lambert believes will make his eventual adjustment much harder.
According to Lambert, Barrett should eventually serve as the fourth option offensively behind Leonard, Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley. Instead, Barrett has maintained a 27.7 percent usage rate during the preseason, depriving him of vital opportunities to practice playing off the ball.
