Raptors are at risk of losing top assistant to irresistible head coaching opportunity

Toronto Raptors assistant coach Jama Mahlalela could emerge as a candidate for the New York Liberty head coaching job. The WNBA franchise parted ways with head coach Chris DeMarco following a playoff exit against the Atlanta Dream. Mahlalela was previously a finalist for the role prior to DeMarco's hiring.

Raptors Rapture argues that securing the Liberty position would represent a major career milestone for Mahlalela despite the immense pressure. The 46-year-old previously served as head coach for Raptors 905 in the NBA G League and has held assistant coaching roles with both Toronto and the Golden State Warriors.
