Raptors could aim even higher than Darko Rajakovic’s top-five defense goal

Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic stated during media day that the team aims to finish as a top-five defense again. The Raptors achieved fifth place in defensive rating last season behind Oklahoma City, Detroit, San Antonio, and Boston.

Writer Elaine Blum argues the Raptors should target a top-three defense instead, pointing to Kawhi Leonard replacing Brandon Ingram and young players developing. Blum notes defense remains critical to navigate Leonard's expected absences and strong league-wide defensive competition.
