The Utah Jazz suffered a heavy 112-90 home defeat against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Delta Center on Halloween. Portland dominated early, mounting a 17-0 run in the first quarter powered by defensive pressure from Toumani Camara. Deni Avdija contributed 19 points to help build a substantial halftime lead, which Portland eventually extended to 25 points in the second half.
The loss dropped Utah to a 1-5 record to start the season. Rookie Darryn Peterson led the Jazz with 16 points, but Utah committed 19 turnovers that led to 20 Portland points. Star forward Lauri Markkanen struggled from the field, finishing with 13 points on 3-for-15 shooting as Utah prepares to face San Antonio next.
