Wizards’ Anthony Davis to decide about player option ‘when the season is over’

Washington Wizards forward Anthony Davis announced on Monday that he will wait until the 2026-27 season concludes before deciding on his long-term future. Speaking at the team's media day, the 33-year-old stated he plans to play through the upcoming campaign before choosing whether to exercise his $62.8 million player option for 2027-28 or become an unrestricted free agent.

Davis, who joined Washington via a February 2026 trade from the Dallas Mavericks, noted that recent roster additions have improved the team's outlook. He highlighted the drafting of top pick AJ Dybantsa alongside veteran acquisitions Khris Middleton and Deandre Ayton as positive steps toward competitiveness.
