Wizards can’t afford to play the waiting game with Anthony Davis

Wiz of Awes writer Jordanna Clark argues that the Washington Wizards cannot afford to delay a decision on Anthony Davis' future until the offseason. Davis announced at media day that he intends to wait until after the season ends to hold contract discussions with the front office, despite being eligible for a four-year extension worth up to $275 million.

Davis holds a $62.8 million player option for next summer that would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent. Clark writes that Washington should either sign him or trade him before the February 11 deadline to avoid losing him for nothing.
