The Washington Wizards plan to evaluate how Anthony Davis fits with the team over 20 to 30 games before deciding whether to offer him a contract extension or pursue a trade, according to ESPN insider Brian Windhorst. Windhorst reported that if Davis agrees to an extension he will remain with the team, but if no agreement is reached, Washington is expected to place him on the trade market.
Davis is eligible to extend his contract with the Wizards at any point, though signing an in-season extension requires declining his player option for the 2027-28 season. Windhorst added that the Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to be involved in any potential trade due to a lack of desirable assets.
