Golden State Warriors forward Yaxel Lendeborg has credited the NBA 2K video game series with aiding his real-life basketball decision-making and court vision. Lendeborg explained that routinely playing as a point guard in the game helped him practice recognizing defensive formations and anticipating opponent reactions.
According to Lendeborg, the virtual experience translated directly onto the court by slowing the game down for him. He noted that anticipating defenders' movements allows him to maintain multiple playmaking options rather than merely reacting to defensive pressure.
