NFLPA executive director JC Tretter criticized line judge Jeff Seeman after video surfaced of a heated interaction with Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. The incident occurred during Arizona's 36-24 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday, October 4, 2026, when McBride protested a missed pass interference call against Giants cornerback Dru Phillips. Television cameras appeared to show Seeman directing profanity at McBride during the exchange.
Tretter stated that the official's behavior was unacceptable and called on the NFL to hold referees to the same standards as players. An NFL spokesperson confirmed to Pro Football Talk that the league plans to review the interaction. The incident highlighted perceived double standards, especially after New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel received a 15-yard penalty earlier that day for using profanity toward referee Bill Vinovich.
