Falcons Name Michael Penix Jr. Week 3 Starting QB

The Atlanta Falcons have officially named quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as their starter for the upcoming Week 3 game. Head coach Kevin Stefanski and the Falcons organization finalized the decision following consecutive weeks of struggling quarterback play. Penix is returning to action after recovering from a partially torn ACL.

With both Penix and Tua Tagovailoa sidelined, backup Cooper Rush started under center in a 34-3 loss to Carolina, throwing two interceptions. Tagovailoa, who has been dealing with a back ailment, is reportedly making progress but has yet to play this season. Penix's return comes as Atlanta begins a stretch of three consecutive primetime games.
