Bills 2027 NFL Mock Draft Ushers in New Era For Secondary

A 2027 NFL mock draft by FanSided's Cody Williams projects the Buffalo Bills to select Notre Dame safety Tae Johnson with the 29th overall pick. Williams argues that adding Johnson would help shore up the defensive back seven to better support quarterback Josh Allen and Buffalo's high-powered offense, praising the safety's coverage and run-defense capabilities.

The projection comes amid major defensive changes for Buffalo under head coach Joe Brady and defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. While Cole Bishop and C.J. Gardner-Johnson currently feature in the secondary, Gurzi notes that Johnson could further solidify the unit, having recorded 48 tackles and four interceptions during his 2025 campaign with Notre Dame.
