Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard was listed among coaches around the NFL who are under the most pressure .

Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard is facing growing scrutiny as the team enters its bye week with a 5-1 record despite significant defensive struggles. Buffalo currently ranks 31st in total yards and passing yards allowed per game, and 28th in points allowed. Consequently, USA TODAY analyst Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz highlighted Leonhard as one of the NFL coordinators under the most pressure, though writer Mike Moraitis argues Leonhard's job is likely safe given the challenge of installing a new defensive scheme.
Leonhard acknowledged the unit's inconsistency, pointing to struggles in the secondary rather than the defensive line. The team has seen lackluster performances across the secondary, with safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson set to miss time and young cornerbacks Maxwell Hairston and Davison Igbinosun still developing. Moraitis suggests that general manager Brandon Beane may need to pursue reinforcements before the upcoming NFL trade deadline to support the defense.
