The Buffalo Bills have moved on from starting safety CJ Gardner-Johnson after inconsistent play and troubling behavior. Will they turn to the trade market for a replacement?
Following the release of safety CJ Gardner-Johnson, Ralph Ventre of Buffalo Bills On SI examines potential trade targets for the Buffalo Bills ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Gardner-Johnson was cut after serving a one-game suspension for spitting at an opponent, leaving Buffalo with only three safeties on the active 53-man roster.
Ventre highlights Tennessee Titans safety Amani Hooker as a realistic trade option given Tennessee's 1-7 record and Hooker's manageable contract. The writer also names Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker and Los Angeles Chargers veteran Derwin James as possible targets for general manager Brandon Beane to explore.
