Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales attributed the team's defensive collapse in a 43-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to poor execution rather than scheme. Canales backed defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero's play calls, explaining that players failed to maintain gap discipline, set blocks, and contain runners. The defeat marked the second time through six games that Carolina allowed over 40 points.
Tampa Bay's ground game dominated the contest, with Bucky Irving rushing for 106 yards, Kenneth Gainwell gaining 88, and Sean Tucker adding 52. Several Carolina defenders, including Nick Scott and Bobby Okereke, missed tackles during the defeat. Canales compared the defensive breakdown to their Week 1 blowout loss against the Chicago Bears.
