Lee Hunter’s promise is no excuse for the Carolina Panthers to trade Pro Bowl defensive lineman Derrick Brown.

Jared Feinberg of Cat Crave argues that the Carolina Panthers should not trade star defensive tackle Derrick Brown ahead of the deadline. Despite trade rumors circulating following the dismissal of defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, Feinberg contends that rookie Lee Hunter's promise does not make Brown expendable. Brown remains a franchise cornerstone and a vital run defender.
The Panthers are transitioning to interim defensive coordinator Todd Wash's attacking scheme, which Feinberg believes suits Brown well. While Hunter and undrafted rookie Aaron Hall show upside, Feinberg asserts that relying on unproven talent instead of an established Pro Bowl captain would be a major mistake for Carolina.
