The Chicago Bears have activated a defensive player to fill the open spot on their 53-man roster, but not the one everyone assumed.

The Chicago Bears have officially filled their 53-man roster ahead of Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers by activating linebacker Noah Sewell from the physically unable to perform list. Sewell's return comes after recovering from a torn Achilles sustained in Week 17 of last season, with his 21-day practice window set to expire next week. The Bears also elevated running back Zavier Scott from the practice squad to the active roster.
Chicago chose to activate Sewell over cornerback Kyler Gordon and defensive end Shemar Turner, both of whom have been ruled out for Sunday's game. The author notes that Gordon's activation window runs until October 21, giving the team additional time to ensure his health before adding him back to the active roster.
