Kmet may not be the No. 1 tight end anymore, but the Bears value him greatly and will miss the example he sets while he's on IR.

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a serious knee injury against the New England Patriots. The non-contact injury places the seventh-year veteran on injured reserve, leaving Chicago without their longest-tenured player and a foundational team leader. Prior to the injury, Kmet had played in 107 of 108 career games.
Rookie Sam Roush is set to take on Kmet's role as the primary number-two tight end behind starter Colston Loveland. Head coach Ben Johnson emphasized that while the team will adjust using Roush and additional blocking packages, Kmet's steady leadership, work ethic, and locker room presence will be sorely missed.
