Key Things to Know

  • Watson returned to practice Friday in a limited capacity after missing Wednesday and Thursday sessions.
The Story in 60 Seconds

The Cleveland Browns have named Shedeur Sanders as the starting quarterback against the New Orleans Saints, but head coach Todd Monken left open the possibility that Deshaun Watson could serve as the backup. Watson returned to practice on Friday but remains in concussion protocol and is officially listed as questionable after reporting symptoms following a helmet-to-helmet hit against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Watson missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited to non-team drills on Friday. If Watson is not cleared to suit up, Dillon Gabriel is expected to serve as Sanders' primary backup, with rookie Taylen Green also on the roster.
