Quarterback Deshaun Watson has been enjoying a strong season with the Cleveland Browns, and this team is 3-1 heading into its Week 5 game.
The Cleveland Browns could consider extending quarterback Deshaun Watson if the team continues winning and reaches the playoffs, according to a report by Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot. Watson has guided Cleveland to a 3-1 start atop the AFC North in the final year of his contract, throwing for 855 yards and six touchdowns under head coach Todd Monken.
Browns general manager Andrew Berry originally envisioned Watson as a long-term franchise quarterback after trading three first-round picks and awarding a fully guaranteed $230 million deal in 2022. Despite missing 49 of 68 possible games due to injuries and suspensions, sustained success this season could prompt Cleveland to offer Watson a short-term or multi-year extension.
